How much does a website cost?

This is probably the most commonly asked question that I recieve when I start telling people that I build websites for a living. Ask any web deveoper out there and they’ll most likely tell you they almost cringe when someone asks them this. Why you ask? Because it’s almost impossible to just answer this question right off the bat.

If someone were to ask you how much a car cost, what would be your initial response? The usual response is, “What kind of car”? A used pinto? An SUV? How about a Rolls Royce? The same goes for websites. And the same concept of “you get what you pay for” applies as well. Do you want leather seats? Shiny Rims? How about air conditioning?

So how about your website? Do you need a single page with your logo and phone number on it so people can get ahold of you? Or are you looking to build the next ebay? These have very different requirements on both time an resources and will obviously have very different price tags associated with them.

The same applies for probably the next most popular question on the list, “How long does it take to make a website?”

I think you get the idea.
